# Session Overview
We resumed right where we left off: debating what to do about the captured mercenaries. Dynamo became suspicious and briefly interrogated them about their mission and what the other mercenaries know – learning little. Uhtred suggested landing and setting the mercenaries free to wander the Mountains, but the others thought this might be too callous (with Dynamo objecting most strongly, citing her Carnite ethics regarding hunter and prey). Ultimately, the party decided to lock the mercenaries in the _Gallowhawk_'s brig and deal with them in Vinsklar. Dr Bungus expressed interest in "taste-testing" them. The party decided to continue to [[Vinsklar]], transfer the _Gallowhawk_'s weapons over to the _Skyborn_ in dry dock, and then sell the _Gallowhawk_. Dynamo and Balthier returned to the _Skyborn_, while the rest of the party remained on the _Gallowhawk_ to crew the ship. They also struck the flag, name, and other identifying information from the mercenary ship.
The party arrived in Vinsklar \[DM gave some exposition on the city and on [[Ealdraed]] in particular]. They docked the _Skyborn_ in Dynamo's private hangar. [[Beornwulf]] left to go find [[Maerwynn]], saying that he would return in the evening. Dynamo noticed a note was waiting for her inside the hangar. Reading the note caused Dynamo great distress, and she mumbled something about going to the Hand before walking off into the Junk Quarter, unresponsive to requests from the rest of the party. Anonis, Balthier, and Dr Bungus followed her.
### Uhtred
Uhtred went to the docks to try to find a buyer for their extra ship. He found a fellow smuggler in the Junk Quarter who was willing to buy the _Gallowhawk_ at its fair market value (PRICE), with a 30% fee for the refurbishment and labour costs of transferring the weapons to the _Skyborn_. As Uhtred was walking the docks, he noticed a message that had been left for him in Thieves' Cant, near his normal haunts. It was from Morcaer, a fellow smuggler, telling him to meet up at the Hand… although it didn't seem quite like Morcaer's handwriting. When Uhtred was returning to Dynamo's hangar, he encountered a young woman, [[Stanfleda]], who was begging for help for her village to anyone who would listen. Uhtred heard that her village was sinking into the ground, and the [[chthona]] were emerging. Her call for aid moved Uhtred, and he told her to come with him so she could make her case to the others.
### The Others
The rest of the party made their way to [[The Hand]], where Dynamo wanted to talk to [[Ealdraed]], a purveyor of information. She explained who Ealdraed was and what he did, and the others indicated that they had questions for the man, too. They found Ealdraed inside and Dynamo made introductions.
Dr Bungus went first. He brought out the [[uloth brain lobe]] that he had harvested from the uloth back in [[2026-03-21|Session 8]] and plopped it on the table. He also brought out the uloth mucus and uloth teeth that he had harvested. Ealdraed was astonished at these items, as they did not match any creatures in his books. He managed to gather that this was a large creature that was found in a cavern deep underground, but Dr Bungus declined to share additional information. In true Bungus enigmatic fashion, the doctor failed to articulate a question, so Ealdraed turned to Balthier. The Engineer asked where he could find a disguise shop nearby, so Ealdraed told him of such a store nearby: [[The Second Face]].
Next, Anonis asked where he might find information about his parents. All he knows is that his mother arrived on an exodus ship to [[Gudesberg]] and gave birth on the monastery steps. Ealdraed told Anonis that the priests made records of the exodus ships during [[The Riving]] and Gudesberg would certainly have those records, though [[The Cathedral]] here in Vinsklar very likely has copies of those records as well.
Then Ealdraed turned to Dynamo. The Sky Ranger wanted secrecy to ask her questions, so she asked the other three to settle up and leave. Ealdraed considered that the information he learned from Dr Bungus (that there was a new, unknown kind of animal that lived in caves) equalled the value of the information he had dispensed to Anonis and Balthier (since he had given them very basic information), and so requested no payment. With that, they left. Alone, Dynamo showed Ealdraed the note she had received.
Whatever Ealdraed told Dynamo, it seemed to lead her to a specific tavern: [[The Pauper's Crown]], in the Junk Quarter. She paid Ealdraed 4 silver skillings for the information and left, meeting up with her companions. On their way to the Pauper's Crown, they stopped by the Second Face and Balthier bought a Disguise Kit. When asked about this, he replied that there were people looking for him, but did not elaborate further.
The Pauper's Crown turned out to be a tavern themed after pre-Riving nobility. The party grabbed a table and Dynamo headed to the front to order a round of mead in old-fashioned drinking horns – the tavern's specialty. While ordering, she noticed a man sitting alone, who signalled her to come over. He indicated that he was the person sending her notes, and congratulated her on following the clues to find him. He said that he had proof of her true identity and that he would make it public if she did not cooperate. She angrily asked what he wanted from her. He told her that she simply needed to make some deliveries for him. Once she completed the deliveries, he would give her his proof of her identity. She asked to see the "proof", and he reached inside his jacket and withdrew an old book – a ledger, it seemed – with a crest or emblem on the front which she recognised. Dynamo, showing real emotion, reached out her hand to touch the book and agreed to make the deliveries. The man grinned and said that the first shipment would be delivered to her hangar at sundown the next day, along with instructions for the delivery. Then he left.
### Meeting Up Again
The four made their way back to the hangar and met up with Uhtred, who was waiting for them with Stanfleda. As he was introducing her to the others, Beornwulf and Maerwynn showed up. Ever security-conscious, Beornwulf did not want to reveal Maerwynn to an outsider, so Uhtred asked Stanfleda to wait outside while the party talked.
The party presented Maerwynn with the artefact they had recovered from Gudesberg: [[The Ninth Lens of Lucuna]]. They also retrieved the [[Rúnbrandr|Rune-Sword]] from its secret compartment inside the _Skyborn_. Maerwynn marvelled that the party had obtained such a powerful Lucunar artefact, and confirmed that this would serve for her thaumatological work. However, she now required two things:
* A laboratory, or the space to set one up. Somewhere quiet and away from Haakon's spies.
* Large quantities of gallium – too large to purchase without rumour spreading. She has marked known gallium deposits on a map, where the party may mine it directly.
She told the party to wait one day while she assessed the options available, and then the party would need to make decisions on which objective to achieve. Although each party member now has objectives of their own to accomplish. It remains to be seen which priorities will prove most pressing.
