**Session 3** 10 January 2026 10h00 PST (18h00 UTC) # Roster * Anna * Michael * Micaiah * Ashe * Mason ## Absent * BJ # Session Overview You browsed the markets in [[Prosperity]] and spent some of your hard-earned gold: * Dynamo: drop line gear, airman's harness, tinker's tools (200 gp spent) * Anonis: studded leather armour, light crossbow, rapier, airman's harness (145 gp spent) * Michael: portable augur, cling hook, airman's harness (190 gp spent) * Mason: 25 glass vials, airman's harness (75 gp spent) * Ashe: airman's harness (50 gp spent) * party: a 2nd drop line gear (100 gp spent) You then waited for Professor [[Maerwynn]] to meet you on the _Skyborn_. When she did, she told you that the [[Rúnbrandr|Rune-Sword]]'s runic inscriptions were too worn to be read completely. However, since the sword is an artefact of Lucuna (having the ability to promote meditation), there may be an obscure thaumatological process to restore the artefact to its initial state – to turn back the clock, as it were, undoing the erosion so that the runes may be read clearly. To do so, however, will require additional artefacts of Lucuna, and powerful ones. The only place to obtain them for sure is the [[The Monastery|Gudesberg monastery]]. As you debated searching for artefacts in other locations or asking [[Lord Haakon]] for help, Maerwynn informed you of another troubling fact: [[Haakon's mercenaries]] had questioned her about potential artefacts from [[Soranger]], seemingly aware of the sword. She was able to hide it for a time, but she worries that Haakon seeks to find the sword and bury its secrets forever, solidifying his position in the post-Riving world. She has brought you the Rune-Sword for safekeeping, as she does not feel that it is safe in Prosperity. She then returned to the university to continue researching the thaumatological ritual. Thus informed, you set out for [[Gudesberg]], picking up a shipment of carpentry implements so as to appear as a normal merchant ship. En route, Anonis expressed his hesitation, revealing that he has a history with the priests and did not leave under legitimate terms. However, when your ship arrived, the priestly port authorities noticed nothing out of the ordinary, and no one recognised Anonis. The five of you made your way up the Road of Solitude toward the monastery, delivering your cargo as you went (and earning a 100 gp profit). Outside, you scoped out the monastery but could find no way to covertly enter the building, so you entered via the main entrance as petitioners. When Uhtred asked about visiting the archives, the priest recognised Anonis, and the party was escorted into the monastery so that the former priest could be questioned. Anonis met with his superior, [[Osric|Brother Osric]], and [[Æthelstan|Elder Æthelstan]]. He informed them that he now sought answers outside the priesthood, and would not be returning to the fold. Æthelstan declared that the Council of Wisdom would deliberate on his fate, and that Anonis and the rest of the party could spend the intervening time in the archives. Using his knowledge of the building, Anonis was able to lead the rest of you from the archives to the inner chambers of the monastery, so that the group could steal the artefacts they needed from there, but you were quickly noticed and apprehended. The Incorruptibles took you to meet with the Council of Wisdom directly. After telling them the truth of your quest, you were informed that the Rune-Sword had been left behind in Soranger for such a purpose as this. However, you would need to prove yourselves worthy of Lucuna: something is lurking in the lower chambers of the monastery, and priests are disappearing without trace. The Council is clear: investigate and resolve the issue in the monastery's caverns, and you will be given everything you require on your divinely approved quest. However, the task is not easy. Squads of Incorruptibles sent before you have not returned. The priests have no answers as to what awaits you in the darkness. In preparation for your descent, the priests will outfit you with gear such as torches, and instruct you on the passages and chambers that have been delved. As you prepare and focus, you can feel your capabilities growing, new options opening up before you as you contemplate how to further evolve your craft. **You have all reached Level 3.** Make sure to update your character sheets and make any required choices; in particular, all of you will need to choose a subclass, which will inform your gameplay for the rest of your character's adventuring career. Study your new abilities well – they will be needed. Party gold: 860 gp
