# Description
The **_Shroud of Unhallowed Rest_** is an artefact of **Alesus**. It takes the form of a funeral shroud woven of black cloth with a decorative border of black lace. It smells faintly of death and can never be folded quite flat or evenly. It must be carried on your person (perhaps in a backpack or other bag) or within 5 feet of you in order to provide its effects.
_Unnatural Resilience._ You have **resistance to Necrotic damage**. However, this resilience comes at a price: Disturbed Slumber.
_Disturbed Slumber._ Food loses its taste for you, as well as some of its potency. You recover **1 fewer Hit Point from each Hit Die** you expend when you finish a Short Rest. When you regain health after finishing a Long Rest, you fail to regain a number of Hit Points equal to your level (or total levels, if multiclassing). If the amount of Hit Points you would regain is less than this number, you regain none. However, this effect cannot cause you to _lose_ Hit Points, and if you are not missing any Hit Points when you begin a Long Rest, this effect does nothing.
The Shroud's Unnatural Resilience ability is only active so long as you have completed a Short or Long Rest with the Shroud and completed that rest missing at least 1 Hit Point due to the effects of Disturbed Slumber – however, if you were healed by another effect since finishing that rest, Unnatural Resilience will function just fine. You must also have had the Shroud on your person (or within 5 feet of you) since that rest.
