He is known throughout the Junk Quarter as the man who knows everything. If there is any fact or datum not written down in one of his massive ledgers, then surely he will know where it can be found. So great is his utility that people will sometimes travel from other cities in order to sit down with the man and question him as if he is a fate-spirit from old legend. Ealdraed's function goes hand in hand with his chosen domain. It is the peculiar environment of The Hand that allows him to be a neutral broker of information to all parties. His omnipresence at the tavern has led many to associate The Hand with Ealdraed more than its actual proprietor, Stithbeorht. Ealdraed respects the privacy of The Hand and never reveals the source of his information, but anything disclosed in conversation with him is fair game, so those who deal with him often learn to guard their words. Ealdraed will both sell and buy information. One may offer any information they believe worthwhile, or he might ask them specific questions he thinks they might know the answers to.
